Musa: Revolutionizing education with WhatsApp

Mónica Ramos, a firefighter and Peruvian entrepreneur, co-founded Musa to train informal workers via WhatsApp, promoting inclusion and skills.

The Peruvian startup Musa has been recognized by the World Economic Forum as one of the 13 leaders in the “Skills First” category. Alongside giants like Coursera, IBM, PwC, SAP, and Siemens, Musa stands out for its innovation. Founded in 2021 by Mónica Ramos and Patricia Barrios, Musa trains informal entrepreneurs through WhatsApp. To date, it has impacted 350,000 people in Peru, Chile, Mexico, and Ecuador.

Mónica Ramos, a commercial engineer and firefighter, focuses on social and environmental entrepreneurship. Additionally, she founded Resto Zero to improve the lives of Peruvian coffee growers. Ramos highlighted that teaching people with little formal education is a significant challenge. Nevertheless, Musa’s technology, using WhatsApp, has proven effective in educating those who need it most.

This international recognition not only underscores the importance of innovation in education but also highlights its positive impact on society. As Musa continues to grow, its goal for 2024 is to solidify its presence in Peru and expand into Chile. In doing so, it will reaffirm its commitment to educational inclusion and social development.

In this way, Musa demonstrates how technology can break socio-economic barriers. It provides accessible educational tools and builds a more inclusive and prepared future.
